Could you not just widden upto the hydrent sign? this would allow widder access and save the hassle of getting permission for relevent people, and should also allow more cars to enter and exit the drive if parked in an ideal way.

Capn has hit the nail on the head. You do realise the significance of the 3 and the 2 on the sign don't you? Move it and the lower one will no longer apply which could cause the FB problems when they come along to fight the fire raging in your neighbours front room.

I expect the FB will find the hydrant and moan about the soppy sign reading wrong.:rotfl:C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten."l! ilyë yantë ranya nar vanwë"0

If you do the land registry search as I mentioned it will show you your boundaries, I would imagine upto the footpath is your property and edge of your boundary, so the Hydrant would be on your property.
However do not move the hydrant sign until FB have been informed, I would imagine somewhere down the line there will be some law and regulations for them which you could find yourself in a whole heap of trouble if you moved it without permission.
As also said why not just knock the retaining wall down upto the sign ?
the cover itself will be cast iron and the support underneath concrete so will easily take the weight of a car / van etcYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
our fire people paint the hydrant plaques regular, they also send a bloke out to flush them every once in a while, one obviously hasnt been done. go down your nearest station and have a word, as for the markings, looking at the distance you want it moved, reckon it would stay the same.Div 1 Play Off Winners 2007

Surely widening the entrance will require planning permission anyway? You're not just widening the entrance, you are widening the access strip leading to it.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Educate me please?
Edit: There was one of these outside our house too but it got removed (no idea who by) a while back and has never been replaced.

Something nobody seems to have picked up on.....
Is the hydrant feed deep enough to put an asphalt surface on? And will it take the weight when a car drives over it?
My OPINION.... I really can't see them moving a hydrant to improve the OP's access.0
