Hit and Run Help

Hi guys, my girlfriend was hit from behind by a car that just drove off

it caused 3ks worth of damage and was in her mums car (named driver) as her car was in repair after being hit from behind in the snow (at about 10mph)

the driver never was identified despite getting most of the reg number the police went round the owners house and he said he'd sold it 2 week ago!!

she had 2 days off work, went to A&E on the night, had a MIB assesment that said it would take 8 weeks to recover and 6 months for the anxiety to go (shes a nightmare in the car now)

they have offered £1300 - £1600 which i dont thinks enough, she can reject the offer but with it being a government body will they improve the offer??

Thanks

I'm trying to work-out how a 10mph rear-end shunt can cause £3k worth of damage. Was the car made of cardboard or paper?.

the car in question is Mum's car......

    for OP..try a no-win-no-fee solicitor....see what they say?

"as her car was in repair after being hit from behind in the snow (at about 10mph)"

As far as I read it , there are 2 incidents.

    1. in the snow at 10mph, in the OPs girlfriends car.
    2. hit and run on the girlfriends Mums car, at an unspecified speed.

You actually never mentioned anywhere in the OP about being hit at 40mph.

How has she managed to be hit twice from behind so closely apart? Is she normally such a bad driver?

it was a hard hit from behind roughly 30/40ish it wasnt a small dink it took the back wheel out

it was about 6 weeks apart it just took the body repair people ages as during all the snow they were quite busy.

both werent her fault as with most accidents its the person behinds fault so wouldnt class them as her fault and being a bad driver

?? If I pull into a lane in front of someone and they hit me from behind, it's still my fault even though they hit me from behind.

If I'm driving along the motorway and suddenly pull an emergency stop for no reason and someone hits me from behind, it's my fault.

So, how did someone driving at 40mph manage to drive right into the back of your gf's car? I imagine at that speed it would have done more than take the back wheel out.

Who has made the offer of payment?

    Have you consulted a solicitor?

Unless I am mistaken the registered owner has a duty to provide details of who he sold it to and the DVLA should have details on record tho in all probability the new owner isn't registered, insured, taxed Etc so are the Police pursuing this?

They may not give this info to you but they may answer a solicitor.

Proper legal advice is needed and you shouldn't rely on the bar-room lawyers on here for such a large amount of money.

    Just my opinion. :)
