Virgin just offered this, opinions please

I'm currently paying £12.26 a month with Virgin & my contract runs out on June 7th. I'm ideally after a Desire but dont want to pay much more than I'm paying now. Virgin just offered me a Wildfire with 200 minutes, unltd text & 1gb internet plus a payment of £35 for the phone for £13.43 a month (24 months) am I right in thinking this is pretty rubbish? I got put through to various departments but dont think it was retentions :(

Yes, thats pretty rubbish! Shop elsewhere if they don't cut the cost by a few pounds and give you the handset for free, other network providers are doing so already.

I know T-mobile did the Desire, not sure how much, but I have the Motorola Defy 24 month contract and get 500 texts, 600 mobile minutes, unlimited landlines and unlimited internet for £20 per month. Virgin could not match anywhere near as good a deal for me and I have had landline etc with them for years, Definately shop around. :) My handset is free.
  • Well my plan is to wait until the last minute & then ring to get through to retentions. I'm making a note of all the best deals I see about & then I'll see if they can match them. After much searching around yesterday my favourite is the HTC Desire S on 02 for £13.50 a month (50 mins 250 texts 100mb) I'm not a heavy user & that deal would get me a good phone whereas the Wildfire is already old.

Where did you see that deal? The cheapest I can find is around £21.50 per month. My contract is up soon and I want to get the best deal as well.
Found the HTC Desire for around £13 per month though.
(Such a shame Virgin don't do iPhones though as I would love one of those - too expensive though)

The desire S offer was just over the easter weekend, can still get the original desire on it though :)
