Contact the births, deaths & marriages registration office of your local council. Tell them you want to obtain a copy of your long birth certificate. They will give you the contact details of where to apply to.0

Here's the link for how to obtain a birth certificate for an adopted person.

Are you in touch with your father or your grandparents or any aunts and uncles? They would probably be able to throw some light on the story.
Do you think your sister was teasing you about being adopted?
We have a running joke in our family that one of us was adopted by one family member but was actually the child of another of our family members. Everyone understands that this is a joke and not to be taken seriously and only started when the person concerned was about 30 years old and well aware that it was just a joke.
If your sister was teasing you it's a very cruel and malicious thing to say to a child.0 -
Apologies to you, SnowyOwl, if this feels like interfering, but just to clarify - if you receive a long birth certificate with your mum and dad's names (the ones who brought you up) etc. then you were not adopted.Contact the births, deaths & marriages registration office of your local council. Tell them you want to obtain a copy of your long birth certificate. They will give you the contact details of where to apply to.
An adopted person has a short certificate, but if you have to supply the long one for official purposes like a passport then an adopted person has to use their adoption papers.
An adopted person does have a birth registration and a long cert. but with their birth surname.0 -

Your SIL won't let you talk to your bother and your mum hates you?
Is there anyone in your family that you are in touch with and is grown up enough to have a conversation about this? Is your sister usually a complete b1tch or just on this topic? If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

I have to be honest, it doesn't sound like a very loving environment, particularly as the OP feels her mother hates her.0 -
We jokingly tell my sister she was adopted.. because she is nice and we are all not! ... Sounds like this might be the case for you! (that you are nice because your sister and SIL sound like complete b!tches!)
Did your mother never mention when she was pregnant with you anything specific happened, went anywhere like holidays or weddings?? Any details about the time or date of your birth or your delivery?LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
If you have your birth cert it will say on it 'adopted' if that was the case.0

The birth certificate issued after adoption DOES NOT say adopted on it !0

The "shortened" birth cert does not make any reference to the fact that a person is adopted. It looks exactly the same as any other birth cert.0
