I'm guessing from the awful english on display that you have such a disability? Pardon me for second guessing but as a second generation immigrant who has integrated I am often amazed at how much poorer the english displayed by people who have been here for generations actually is compared to my own. Said people often show themselves up on forums by lambasting immigrants in there posts with horrendous english. So I really can't tell if your disabled or uneducated. My apologies.

Chinna I'm not sure how helpful it would be for us to see the report but feel free to keep us posted on the appeal and any relevant discussion on how the interpreter was used by ATOS, it sounds about right from what I have heard and experienced from there methods.

I very much applaud your attitude in wanting to give something back to the forum.

So sorry that my disabilities mean that using a comuptor is very difficult for me, but I did not choose them where as the OP's dad did choose to move here and also chose not to learn to speak English for over four decades and then complains that a 'terp was booked for his WCA assessment at the cost of @£200 ph when deaf people cant get any help for medcial appointments etc.

We Brits get no help abroad for 'terps, in every other country you are sxpected to provide your own and a family member certainly wont do for soemthing like the WCA where the applicants answers mush be recorded and not their daughters.

the OP did not complain about an interpreter being provided and the OP would have been happy to act as interpreter

this was an interpreter at the DWP

the DWP provides BSL interpreters as well

interpreters for the UK Borders Agency are paid 48 for the first hour, less after that, with a minimum of 3 hours ('phone interpreting pays considerably less), does the DWP pay more?

Read the first thread, the Op did complain about a 'terp being provided.

DWP may provide 'terps for planned interviews but certainly not for unplanned ones, as in when there is an emergency and for health reasons you cannot even book one for a planned appointments.

I couldnt give a hoot about the Borders Agency since Im British and even without that a 'phone 'terp is no good to a deaf person, is it!

Like I said in the orginal thread, my dad regrets not learning it and was never capable of learning it. I think also it was the governments fault for not making it known that they needed to learn it.

I will be back to continue this with you once I have sorted the appeal out.

Look...read the thread!!! I did not complain about having a
interperter, that was their decision. What we complained about was when they would not allow me in the room with my dad ..saying there was not enough space.

I understand what you are saying but believe me these reports will help people. I can't say too much now but will when I can. Thanks for your help.

the op did not complain about an interpreter being provided

the interpreter for the OP's father was for a planned interview

you quoted a figure of 200 pounds an hour for a DWP interpreter for the OP's father, I quoted UK government rates, massively less than that.

A 'phone interpreter would be no use to you but YOU were whingeing about money being spent on non-English interpreting and saying it cost 200 an hour....

She did complain about the 'terp being provided, read the first and then this thread where she complains that having a 'terp mean that their wasn't room for her in the assessment room.

You quoted rate for language 'terps and not for BSL which is more expensive, I am not "moaning" but raising the issue that people who are to lazy to learn the language of the country in which they live are treated better than people who are born and bred in this country but are disabled through no fault of their own.
