Upgrade to sky+

What's the easiest/cheapest way to upgrade my old bog-standard sky system to sky+?, I'm not interested in HD.
Could I just buy a sky+ box from somewhere like Ebay and plug it in or do sky need to be informed. Do I need a new dish & cabling?
Thanks.

You need a twin feed from the dish & a quad LNB.Chances are you only have a single feed & LNB.If you buy a second hand box from E-Bay ect,Sky won't install it so you'll have to get a third party installer to do the work (unless you are good at DIY) which will cost around £100 mark.
All the boxes Sky supply now are the HD one's but you don't have to have the HD.I think it's £30 one off fee for the box without HD active.0 -
To fully use Sky+ functionality, you need 2 cables from the dish to the box. Your current dish will do just fine, though you may need to replace the LNB on the dish to provide you with the 2 outputs.
The Sky+ box can work of one feed, but obviously you couldn't record one channel while recording another.
Once you have the box, you need to phone Sky to pair your viewing card to the box.Dave. :wave:0 -
