I brought a new laptop on Monday and the start up is slow, it feels like it takes ages for the machine to start up. Its slower than my computer which is several years old. This can't be normal. Can i return it and ask for replacement? it was brought from PC World. Thanks for your help.

No, you bought it....you did not brought it. How long does it take to 'boot'?0

It's not uncommon for new computers to be fairly slow to boot up.
There will probably be all sorts of junk on there (trial programs etc), and just about every process will be set to run at startup.
If you keep it, or get another one of the same spec, make sure that you get rid of all the unwanted trash (including anything Norton based which really slows it down).
I would be very surprised if getting another of the same model laptop would make any difference. No, you bought it....you did not brought it.it was brought from PC World.
Which it was.
They brought it from the shop to their house!0 -

If they hadn't bought it, but did bring it, do you think they stole it? :eek:Gone ... or have I?0 -
It takes 2 - 3 mins to load up.0

I think you need to clean it up or take it in to the store and ask them to - you can't return it because it boots slow - its something you really should have tried before buying...0

Try running MSCONFIG and stop the junk you dont need loading at boot up0
