BT Vision Gold Package - how much did you pay?

I have BT phone 'unlimited anytime' and broadband 3 service. I'm thinking of adding BT Vision Gold. I've been offered a package of £34.10 for the first 3 months then £39.10 for the remainder of the 24 month contract and there are no one off fees.

Is this a good deal? Or has anyone managed to get it cheaper?

I'm holding off agreeing to the price in the hope that BT will contact me and offer a better price. Has this happened to anyone?

Any advice gratefully received :)

Why would you want to pay anything for something thats not much better than freeview?
    Just buy a Freeview+ PVR .
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • I assume you mean for all 3? It's £40 on BT's website, so I guess you save 90p a month. Don't know how much you're paying for calls & broadband, but Vision Gold is £12.50 a month as a standalone on a 12 month contract; Quidco is currently £15 (I got it at £100 so maybe worth waiting).

FWIW, I was under the impression that you could watch HD TV via download over b'band (no capability to wath Freeview HD) but seems to only be (paid) movies available on HD. Also, the On Demand has a really good selection of programmes (lots of 'boxed sets' effectively), if only it would work properly; 3 nights, 3 calls to tech support.

Thanks for your input MWNM and I hope you get your BT Vision sorted soon.
Yes I'm looking for a package for all three. My phone and broadband are costing £42 at the moment, including line rental. I know I can get this discounted as BT did this last year when I threatened to move. I've just checked the BT website and it seems new customers are now paying less than me - £40 pm after initial 3 month discount.

I'm interested in adding BT Vision Gold because as you say MWNM, the On Demand TV has a good selection of programmes which I can't get on Freeview. While the BT site quotes £40 pm for this, line rental of £10 is not included. There is also a £30 activation fee(!). BT have offered me the package for £39.10 including line rental and no activation fee. I don't however get the £25 Amazon voucher offered if you sign up online.

So it looks like I'm being offered the package for £10.90 per month less than the deal shown on the website (after intial 3 month offer period where it's discounted by £15.90). This seems like a good deal which I'm tempted to take. However I'm wondering if anyone has been offered better than this? Now that BT know I'm interested are they likely to call me to reduce the price further if I don't call them back?

I'd love to hear from anyone who has experienced BT trying to sell them their Vision package.
  • That sounds like a pretty good deal to me (notwithstanding the detractors of BTV). I'm paying £16 a month for B'band Option 1 plus U/L UK calls, 18 month contract, free for the first 3 months. Then £12.50 for BTV Gold (12 month) plus line rental @ £13.60 (I'm sure you're aware that line rental is only £10 pm if you pay 12 months up front ). Plus I got Quidco cash for the broadband (£50) and the BTV (£100).

    So over 18 months, that should cost me £240 + £244.80 + £225 / 18 = £39.43 (or £31.10 after Quidco).
