    Thanks everyone :) i got my yeast from wilkos :) me n OH have tried to follow a recipe but i think we've done it wrong :D hehe. Does anyone know if this is guna work- in the fermentation bucket we've put in 3cartons of grape juice, 1/2 a cup of sugar, a tsp of yeast and 5 pints of water.....and mixed it all up :\ well put yeast in warm water n then put it in....i read somehere though i gotta put sultanas in????

    nowhere near enough sugar in that - have you got a hydrometer?

    And yes i do have a hydrometer...no idea what to do with it though....how much sugar shall i put in? The whole bag?

    2 bags full, dissolve first in as little water as you can, then stir a bit

    1 litre carton of fruit juice (Lidl do great offers so I buy when 1/2 price)1/2 litre of grape juice (Lidl again)
    kilo of sugar, citric acid,1 teaspoon of pectolase,1 teasp each of yeast and nutrient.
    Dissolve sugar in a couple pints of water (heating in a pan works well) put both juices in demijohn cool the sugar/water mix add to demi top up with cold water add pectolase and citric acid.leave 24 hrs add yeast (I don't know why the delay) ferment.:)

    My favourite recipe is quite similar. 1 carton of orange juice from concentrate, 1 kilo of sugar, 1 tsp pectolase, 1 tsp yeast. Dissolve the sugar in some water, allow to cool and pour into the demi-john. Add orange juice, yeast, pectolase, then top up with cold tapwater to within 1 - 2 inches of the neck. Put on the airlock and leave in a warm place for a few weeks.

    You simply can't go wrong with orange wine.
    Saved over £20K in 20 years by brewing my own booze.
