Could anyone who has pale skin and uses the Estee Lauder DW recommend a shade for me? I'm pale to pretty much snow white proportions...

I think they do one called Shell but its quite pink based, if you struggle with find a DW match I would suggest you take a look at Revlon Colourstay, its very very similar to DW but has a very pale yellow based shade, its the lightest one they do, although I still rate DW as the best foundation it wrecks my skin but the Revlon one dosent and its less then half the price:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
Another vote for EL DW. I've wasted loads of money over the year on cheapies that turned out too pink or too orange. This is the best for me, lasts all day and has a glow to it. I get mine with Boots points most of the time as it lasts for ages. I take it off with EL Take it off or Garnier do a cheapy for waterproof makeup. It's vital that you cleanse really well with DW or you come out in nasty spots. I use the cleanser, removing with an Olay cloth, then wash again with Olay facial wash and a rough face flannel.0

I used to use the Double Wear Light in shade number 1 and found that was very pale, so maybe try that?"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

I'm really quite pale and I got colour matched to Ecru, I have tried Shell too.
Ecru is a 1N1
Shell is a 1C1
So if you're extremely white, Shell would probably be a better match for you. If you go to your nearest counter and say to the girl you've been recommended it but unsure about committing because of the price they will give you a 10 day sample, that way you can see if you like it before buying it.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Thanks all for the tip re ELDW! Went to Boots yesterday and got a sample SO impressed. Full coverage which is what I like! A little really does go a long way I will defo be buying this well worth the money I think.

I thought that wearing makeup every day (especially foundation) just clogged up your pores, dried up your skin, leaving you looking like a shrivelled prune by age 35...[/QUOTEe n]
Perhaps back in the day when pan stick was the only option and people didnt understand about skin care and sun block
I now wear foundation every day or add a bit of foundation to my moisturiser every day - and my skin is the best its ever looked.
Modern foundations, with SPF and a good cleansing regime can do wonders
47 - and with a complexion that has most people guessing Im in my late 30's0 -

I agree, foundations and skin care have come on in recent years. What foundation and skincare do you use? I am nearly 50 and people tell me I don't look my age but I always feel my skin is starting to wrinkle.0 -

I dont have wrinkles. My face has dropped and I have some fine lines around the eyes but thats about it. However I do need to exfoliate more then ever as my skin tends to look a little coarse if I dont stay on top of things
I am very lackadaisical when it comes to looking after skin
I use mineral cosmetics. Bare Escentuals and Elemental Beauty. The EB foundation suits me so well. Calms my sensitivity and covers my roseacea.
Skin care - Either Liz Earle or Tescos own hot cloth cleanser.
Deep cleanse - I use the OCM (oil cleanse method) at least twice a week
Exfoliate every other day with some Emma Hardie grains which I mix in with the cleanser ( too harsh otherwise)
Moisturise with oil of Olay 7 signs and if not wanting make up - ELF tinted foundation
And when my skin really needs it Decleor Ylang Ylang night Balm
Best thing is sunscreen. Tinted foundation plus mineral foundation has an SPF of 25. And of course mineral sunscreen is a physical one so will last all day0
