Is HTC Desire better in every way than OSF?

I use Orange San Francisco on pay as you go now and I love it. The only thing that I am not happy about is that the camera has no flash. I use evernote and I want to be able to take snapshots of documents. For this one reason I consider signing contract and getting HTC Desire or HTC Desire HD.
But I have a question - will I not regret it? are these phones better in EVERY way than OSF?
I dont want to sign 18 mnths contract to get the HTC phone and find out that for example battery life is worse than OSF or sound quality or anything else.

It's not worse. The camera is better.
Is it really worth paying this sort of money just for the extra flash?
I don't know evernote, but many times in the past I used very basic mobile phones instead of a scanner to e-mail copies. Obviously, there was no any flash, but the quality was very decent.0 -
If you all you actually want is flash then you may actually be better off just trading in your phone for a wildfire otherwise the desire is more for browsing using apps etc although the camera and video are quite good.0

I browse a lot and I use applications, I dont use phone just for camera. But I have no problems with browsing and applications, I only have problems with camera, because it is hard to take good picture of a document without good light.0

you will find that a flash causes a large white 'spot' on photographed documents, and in that area you won't be able to read the text, so therefore even if you get a phone with a flash you may find that you have to find 'good lighting' anyway to take a photo.
ps dont go from the OSF to a wildfire yes it has a slightly better camera but that's like saying stepping in dog doo is better than stepping in cow pat (ie both cameras arn't very good at all), also even though the build quality is better than the OSF the phone itself is a step down (esp in screen res).
if you just want a phone with a better camera then something like the xperia x10 mini and mini pro both have very good 5MP cameras for the price (and have also have a flash). but also have a smaller screen res. than the OSF.0 -
I have the new HTC Incredible S and my OH has the SFS - we bought both and are on payg with giffgaff so no contracts. To answer your question, is the HTS better in all ways than the SFC and I have to say no. Considering that one cost c £460 and the other £90 I have to say that the SFC is much better value for money. OK, mine is a bit smoother, faster and the camera is better (better of all HTC's imho), but if it's soley for photoing documents I think I'd save myself ££££££'s and find another way. jayme1 was quite right and I've often had to turn my flash off and get another light source because of the 'spot' the flash causes.
Have you tried walking into a CEX and asking to try the cameras? Take the type of documents you need to photo with you and try them all.0 -

Well they are more expensive,so not better in everyway, as others have mentioned, is it worth getting a contract just to gain a flashlight? I got an led torch for £1 from Asda, besides you don't have to get a contract, get a previously owned phone, finally, as others have mentioned, if the paper is shiny then you may get a reflection from the flash that will limit the view of the picture anyways
