Airline Seat Extra Charge

I was JUST about to post this as we have booked on Air Transat in October, but I'm thinking it's not peak season and we are a family of 4 (2 children) so if the worst comes to the worst we will each have a child to deal with. Perhaps even we will get 3 and 1 in which case I can give the kids to my husband and sleep the flight away! lol
I also object to spending nearly 100 quid extra just to book seats. I don't care if we are in the centre, not near a window, not at a bulkhead, but I do want our 2 and 4 year old to be close to us - we are paying almost full price for them. I also wouldn't expect people to move, but I am hoping that if it comes to it at least one or two people won't really care that much swapping one similar economy seat for another. I'm also planning to get there early to book in to up our chances of sitting together

I'd be happy to pay to reserve my seats, but £35 per person, each way? Not a chance...I'll take my chances, I think.0
