Mouldy unexpired food?

No wonder the cost of everything keeps going up, excellent, mouldy sauce-who can I sue?
Years & years ago when bread was wrapped in waxed paper my Mum bought a loaf that by the following day had grown what appeared to be green candy floss. She got a replacement loaf & a box of cakes, we thought that was brilliant a whole box of shop made cakes not home made & it wasn't anyone's birthday. How times change.0 -
A while back I bought a pack of pre-grated cheese from my local Tesco Express to make pizzas with. Having made the rest of the pizzas up I opened the pack and poured the cheese over only to find it had big blue lumps, especially alarming as this was not a blue cheese.
I went back to the store to complain and they offered to replace the cheese. I explained that the moldy cheese had ruined the rest of the food and the manager agreed to replace the rest of the ingredients (pizza bases, sauce, peppers, mushrooms and chicken) - taking a sample pizza in might just have swung the argument!
The problem turned out to be a pin-size hole in the otherwise airtight bag, and all the other bags were removed from the fridge for inspection.
Ultimately, as long as you approach the issue reasonably the staff at the store - who are responsible in the first instance as the seller - should be able to resolve the issue without the need for further action.0 -
Take it back to the shop. If you take a product back, big supermarkets will always give you a cash refund, or at the very least a voucher, no questions asked. They have a waste budget for exactly this sort of thing, and can claim it back from the manufacturer. Most likely they'll just take the small financial hit in the name of customer satisfaction.0
