    You are no more married after a £15,000 wedding than you are after a £500 one. The chances of the marriage breaking down are also exactly the same for a cheap wedding as for an expensive one. You are doing the right thing in clearing your debts first.
    I can afford anything that I want.
    Just so long as I don't want much.

    but doesn't the father of the
    bride usually pay for the wedding
    if she wants a 5k wedding then best her
    parents start saving
    and anyway you will still have the debt how long do you think you
    will have the bride

    Very true. The only important thing in a wedding are the vows, everything else is window dressing.
