Pay the debt off & then start saving for the wedding.
People pay stupid money for weddings now & seem to forgot getting married is so much more than a day playing dress up.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
I agree. If it was down to me I'd get married by an Elvis impersonator at Toppers in Hemsby and rent a beach hut for the honeymoon, but the average British wedding costs between £12,000 and £20,000 these days.
Anyway, the monye has been transferred and I'm putting the lot into debts first thing on Tuesday.
Thanks for all your help.0 -

When OH and I got married albeit 22yrs ago, it was in a registry office, I wore a 2nd hand dress, him his work suit.
Cousin did the flowers (that was her wedding gift), Mother in law did the cake, neice did my hair and makeup.
My Dad drove in our car, (with ribbons). Reception was held at Mother in laws house, Dad paid for the food, the radio provided the music:o
Our honeymoon was in our caravan in Suffolk. We had a lovely day.

That sounds to me beautiful, and what marriage really should be about.
No need to splash the cash and impress other people.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”

Do you mind if I make myself sound like my mum and say "what a sensible young man you are"!!!
You have made an excellent decision and I hope your gf appreciates you.
Good Luck! :T0 -
Shed the debt first then any spending for your wedding later on if you need to you can take on debt at a lower interest rate, You'll be suprised just how handy 0 % credit cards are .0
