HOw do I promote my business?

I have decided to offer a new service in an already overcrowded market and want some advice on the best way to promote it.

I will be offering brochure websites between 5 and 10 pages with all graphic design included.

My USP is my price as they start at just £249 and the maximum is £450!

What is the best way to promote these services to start-ups?
 Thanks to everybody in the crafting threads who inspired me to start my own business!!

IMO a 5 page + site would probaly be going to medium sized business, and i would of thought if they wanted an internet presence they would already be there. most small businesses seem to be 1 to 3 pages, now if you could target that market, small and start up. if think you might get somewhere. my site, 3 pages does all i want and was £100. great if you havent got the time or knowledge to produce soething.

    good luck tho.

You need to go to the places where small businesses hang out. Try some networking events (avoid those that expect you to pay a membership fee plus your food fee), join the FSB and attend their networking events (free) although you do have to pay membership of the FSB.

Have a blog on your website, have an RSS Feed on it and ping out details when you change your blog so that google and other search engines can find it.

Sorry I thought you said you had a USP?

My rubbish sarcasm aside, a 5 page brochure site does sound a bit old skool. If it was me my USP would be setting up a website plus Facebook group, twitter feed and blog complete with tuition...or something along those lines. For many businesses their Facebook pages now get more visits than their websites, offering the complete package could be beneficial.

Mind you I seem to think a lot of businesses behind the times. If I was a wedding photographer I'd be tweeting pics from the event and offering Facebook albums and a Flicr stream within 24 hours plus pooling pictures from all the guests. Social networking is huge yet ignored by so many businesses.

Flyers, craigslist, newspaper adverts... just a few ideas off the top of my head.

Good luck with your business venture!!

    1. Hand to hand as opposed to door to door
    2. Online via Gumtree and UKBF

By the way the Business Startup 2011 is on at London’s ExCel. This Thursday the 19th of May and Friday the 20th of May 2011.

It is a large event with 230 exhibitors and a programme of over 140 free seminars. It is free for anyone thinking of starting a business or expanding a business: London ExCel, Royal Victoria Dock, London, E16 1XL :)

You are absolutely on the right track. The other thing to sell to start-ups is to provide monthly payment facility and make it clear on your website.

I am a start-up and I had a website designed last year with monthly payments. Then two of my friends, also start-ups, went with the same company. You can't beat word of mouth.

    Good luck!
