Hi all, have just joined sky, waiting for the tv dish and box to be installed tomorrow.
We are now set up on broadband though. Question is, someone told me i have to have phone line plugged into the actual sky box.
My phone line is NOWHERE NEAR my tv? Do i have to buy an extention, do they provide it?
Also, i have just got a bog standered TV and theyre installing Sky+HD, but i have no HD on my TV, does this matter?
Thanks in advance.

The Sky fitter should run a (crude, surface-mounted) extension cable for you as part of the installation. If you are only having one Sky box though, it doesn't need to be connected to the line (Sky don't 'police' the requirement) so you can rip it out again as soon as he's left.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

If he does fit a extension line, make sure he connects the splitter box for the Sky TV to the Microfilter & NOT the microfilter to the splitter or you WILL have problems with your broadband. Also ensure you have enough microfilters for each device connected to any other extensions in your home.0 -
Contractually it has to be connected for the 1st 12m, but as Heinz says, this is not enforced (unless you have Multriroom, in which case it most certainly is).
The HD box comes as standard, but obviously without an HD ready TV you will be viewing in SD only.No free lunch, and no free laptop
