  • This is only a nomination right? And not a vote. They don't need the money, or the publicity, but after seeing the amount of work that went into sharpening up the Match betting 'Newcomers' guide - I feel duty bound to join those who have nominated Misskool, and Jessicamb. They've done a great job. Though I do sometimes wonder if Misskool is not one person, but, is in reality a sort of collective of around 20 people working on a shift basis.

Yes your right, you are nominating a post or in fact a user/s but Martin actually is the person who chooses who wins POTM. :)

Would just like to echo the previous nominations for the jessicamb and misskool thread on the matched betting forum.
  • I'd like to echo the proposals for jessicamb and misskool's thread for december post of the month.

Having achieved a rate of return of 160% in a week , much better than my signed up for and about to be live new current or savings account (as well as moving my gas and elec, altering my mob from contract to payg, buying Martin's books, plus getting some excellent ideas about using Hellmans mayonnaise (eh Zebra), the odd unsought RnR at tesco and a discount voucher or two) . . .
    (breath)

. . . I think that the Matched betting (which isn't gambling and hearily advocates against "betting" your money, but is about exploiting corporations aiming to offer money -- and using it for moneysaving best princplies -- aka Martin's ethos in his book) has in my mind been the most useful of the set of benefits/tools with which I have emerged in the last few weeks.

There was a point where reading Martin's moneysaving book (as I was offline) one night I looked repeadtedly for the explanations of matching bookies "free" bets which I couldn't find and had to wait until I could get online to re-read about. I can kind of understand why Martin may have excluded this section from his book (which IMHO advocades equally direct consumer action) for certain reasons, but I was disappointed that there was no mention.

Of course overall it is a mental shift in the psyche which has given me the benefit of the wisdom of the boards and the wherewithal to *try* to change my lot in life.
But practically speaking, I have to say that the matched betting newbies guide will make the most impact in the available funds in my (new, interest bearing account).
And the way in which Misskool and Jessica explain, help and assist in that board, along with other regulars, and the combined nervous friendliness of newbies, cannot be over emphasised.

Long may the (free money at 80-90% which equates to 175%-185% return) offers and the moneysavings boards expertise in general continue.
Merry christmas and a happy new year.

    ho ho moneysaving ho!:T

I'd like to nominate misskool and jessicamb for their joint effort in producing a Newcomers Guide to Matched Betting - a tremendous effort and obviously a lot of time and effort gone into it.

    Me to
Lets look at the evidence of the impact of matched betting.
4 of the regulars recently had a competition over a 1 month period to see who could make the most money. In that period between them they made £5k. Now the post goes into massive detail on how that money can be achieved risk free.
So if we take the average for those 4 of £1250 each in one month i think we can see just what the post can do for people who want to make some money.

I dont want to put down other great posts that help a lot of people and I have read that the loophole board will never win because it is regarded as the black sheep, but come on what will have more impact on peoples lives, a free train ticket etc or a post that will help people potentially make thousands of pounds?

  • Much as I am a huge fan of match betting since starting myself early last year and making a nice sum out of it, I think my vote this month goes to pixie1 for this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=332438

  • Definately PIXIE1 for the DFW total saved thread. Makes me more determined to do better next year.

My vote goes to Pixie1 for the 'How much have we paid off our debts this year'.

Makes you realise what we are all capable of when we put our minds to it!
