Non Refundable Airline HELP!!

I recently booked flights with flythomascook online and paid for them with my debit card.
After booking i realised that i had made an error and booked the flights for the wrong date, when i contacted them they could not offer me flights on my required date's as they were all fully booked. They also told me that they were a non refund airline and could not offer me any money back.
I realise that they have not breached thier terms of contract but it seems very harsh to me that they will keep my money without me receiving any service from them.
If there is any advice you can offer in helping me to resolve this i would be very greatful.
Have tried flogging them on Gumtree etc but had no success.

You cannot sell flights on. The best you can expect is a credit from the airline, but there is no obligation on them to offer you anything.Gone ... or have I?0

Perhaps book the Jet2 flights and if a name change isn't possible for the TC flights see if you can get the taxes back and put it down to experience.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

No Joy with claiming back taxes. Have put a complaint to thier customer service team, but doesnt look to optimistic

Oh well, im glad these multi million pound businesses make profit on an input error.... seems a very unethical way to run a business0 -
How are they supposed to tell the difference between a genuine error, and people trying it on to get flexible conditions from non-flexible fares?Legal team on standby0

I would assume that genuine mistakes are noticed pretty quickly. Maybe there could be 24 hour period where simple mistakes could be rectified for free, or maybe even a small charge. Obviously the nearer it gets to the departure date, the more likely it is to be an attempt to get more flexible conditions than the cheap ticket allows.0
