Cars parking up a drive - my rights

Hello

I'm after a bit of advice.

I live in a ground floor flat, to get access I have to walk up a drive and come though the gate to my own private garden. The drive is used by a fish suppliers that have units in a yard behind me. On the gate to their busines it says "24 hours access required" But they always start early in the morning and finish business by mid afternoon.

Since Friday two cars have parked on this drive three times in the evening. These cars are owned by young lads (which shouldn't be too relevant just trying to paint a picture). Myself and about 2 other properties keep our bins up the side of this drive, and the cars parking there prevent me from being able to put my bin out. Also it makes me feel uncomfortable. They park right up to my gate, under my bathroom window, and I feel as though my privacy is being invaded. I think it's rude as well as it's a drive and it is my only entrance to the property.

The other 2 nights the cars have been parked there with the owners probably being inside a property (don't know which one), tonight I went to put my bin out and they were there playing football in front of the cars. I asked them if those were their cars and could they not park there again as 24 hours access is required. And also I had to get my bin out so they moved the car for me to do that.

I am asking what the law is regarding this as they were a bit gruntsome in their responses and I'm not sure if they will do as I asked. If it happens again would the local police station be interested, is it against the law? It makes me feel uncomfortable as I live alone and the it was a group of about 7 or 8 teenage lads, so I'd rather they didn't park there. I of course would speak to them again if it happenned again but they still might not listen.

That was nice that they moved for you

Not really sure what your complaint is.

    Hello Lucy

It is a drive that only leads to the business behind so I thought there would be some law against people parking on somebody elses drive.

They would be inside a property, I just don't know which one.

The car being there didn't give me enough room to pull my bin out, and they just moved the car forward and then parked it back where they were.

Is it against the law to park on someone's driveway. I know it is illegal to block a dropped kerb so I thought this might be similar. If they parked there as a one off it wouldn't be so bad, but they seem to have adopted the drive as their parking space, and three evenings since Friday suggests to me they might become regular visitors.

It makes me feel uncomfortable. I have a garden that is hidden round the back, it has a low gate so parking next to it impacts on my privacy.

I guess it depends whos drive it is..i.e who is the legal owner of the drive and what restrictions/covenants and wayleaves may apply?

    Landreg>
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Thanks. It will be interesting to look as my building and the land behind used to be owned by the same person years ago, but then the sold off the yard behind. Be good to know if they owned/sold this drive too.

How do I get information? Can I do it all online or do I need to send off for it?

What right do you have to leave our bin on the drive? You could open a can of worms if you are not careful.

No. There is the law of trespass but that requires the land owner to complain and it would appear they're fine about it.

Oh, and its not illegal to block a dropped kerb either.
