Interesting discussion - there is sadly no substitute for going everywhere. What man would do what RoseFairy did! But worth it when you come to wear the jeans, to have spent time getting good fitting ones
In my sixties I like bootleg and high waist. Interestingly I havent tried DP so will go there. Bought some very nice dark ones from Next yesterday, £30. But so long. Per Una okay for me the ordinary M&S don't fiit anywhere from top to bottom. Thanks for comments about H&M and the lengths - my perfect length would be Per Una short length plus an inch.
I hate getting them shortened that is another huge stress factor because of the heavyness of the fabric its hard to tell if you are turning them up the right amount...do most people get them shortened or just try to wear them the length they are?
And what is the right length for jeans anyway? For work trousers I try to get them just clearing the floor but jeans I tend to wear a bit shorter.
Blood pressure going up just thinking about it all!
RoseFairy, what sort of choice did John Lewis have? Was it their own label you tried on?

I always go to Evans for jeans. I fit a 14 there and 16 everywhere else, and I don't get the big gape you often get at the back with a bigger bottom and small waist.

DP had some high waisted ones in today that looked nice, and their jeans almost always fit well.

I buy bold curve from levi, but if you do go for them try their different styles on as the ones I have are slightly different fits

I've never been able to get jeans which fit properly here in the UK. I too have a well padded rear and chunky thighs and any which fit there gape horribly as I have a disproportionately small waist.

I buy jeans when on holiday in the US but at the moment I'm missing a decent pair of bootcuts as the ones I bought least year are just too big.
I hadn't heard of the Levis curve and the fitting service till I read this thread so I've gone online and booked a fitting this week. I'll be amazed if they can find jeans to ftr me and look ok however I'll certainly post back to let everyone know how it goes.

I haven't been in levi's in this country so don't know if it's the same, but they usually have a book with all the styles, how they fit and what shape they are for, none of them have ever done it for me, always too tight on the leg or too low in the waist. Good luck scottishminnie!
  • Next are good. They are cut for women, although their waistbands can still be a bit wide, so a belt is needed.
  • hi,

I am small on the waist compared to my bum and thighs - 27" waist and 37" hips, and get on quite well with Oasis jeans :) particularly the Scarlets.

some French Connection ones are ok and have also had the odd pair of Miss Sixty ones too - however I have big calves too so struggle getting jeans over these sometimes!

I have tried the Levis Bold Curve too - these were really good, although as someone said above, they do fit very differently across the different styles. I was between sizes last time I went in, so am going to wait until my weight has dropped a little more and stabilised, and will then shell out.

I tried the Gap curvy too - they were ok but again wildly different across sizes and styles and so I gave up in the end as was between sizes and couldn't remember which I had tried, then they didn't have the size I wanted in the style I wanted  me and Gap just don't get on! :rotfl:

oh - and I am five foot tall and struggle with leg length as well - if I get them taken up they end up shrinking over time. My latest Oasis pair I have left as the standard length, they are good with very high heels so I use this as an excuse to wear heels more :D

I hate jeans shopping with the greatest of passion
