Yes Grumbler I'm on a PAYG deal - do you think the PUK code they have given me is the PAC code I require??

Grumbler just noted your advice on giffgaff maybe not being the best for me as I do not use internet on the phone. Would you suggest icardmobile perhaps or someone else.

Thx for your help - should have done this 2 years ago and saved myself loads!

    Hi rich,

A PUK is a 'Personal Unblocking Key'. This is used to reset the PIN (personal Identity Number) on your sim card if you've accidentally entered it incorrectly 3 times.

The PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) you need is something totally different.

EDIT - Sorry Grumbler, posted at the same time :D

How many minutes and texts you normally use and how much this varies from month to month?
Where do you call: landlines, mobiles, special numbers like 0845/0870?

    Hi all,

OK PAC code obtained from Vodafone.

Regards usage I would estimate per month I have been using less than 200 minutes per month (usually because I ask those on a contract if they can call me back!) and less than 200 texts per month.

Would be nice to know that I can call others on mobiles (which I guess is 70% of my calls the remainder being landlines) and would envisage that say 400 mins per month would be more than sufficient for my needs.

    Thx all,

    richwhit

    One other thing.

I don't use giff-gaff, so I stand to be shot down in flames, but I reckon the best deals with them come from their "goody bags" and suggest you check them out.

Oh - and I think Grumbler deserves you thanking a couple of his helpful posts - check out how to do this if you are not sure. MSE etiquette and all that.

Thx Guys Dad - yep your right - didn't realise you could thank someone for their help - is now done!!

Thinking that the giffgaff goody bag may be the best way to go unless someone advises that the icardmobile deal may be better for me??

    Thx,
    richwhit
