Sales Limitation due to DSRs, what do you think.

I am selling on eBay for a while and I have been selling 60,000GBP turnover monthly. As I deal with expensive goods, I prefer to send all items on next day in case of paypal reviews (which are very likely and I cannot claim back my money for 2 instances). Anyway, after DSRs introduced, buyers gave me many slow dispatch time stars which in turn eBay has limit by account and not allow me to list 25,000GBP worth of goods and not list more than 100 listings (sold + active). My sales are below 10,000GBP monthly now and I had to fire 8 members with this policies. Anyone has the same issue? Any chance to get it resolved?

    What are your scores?
It sounds mad that ebay would be happy to lose that level of fees unless they were really bad. Sending next working day does not seem bad to me? Is there something you are not telling us?

I've been in business for just over 6 months, and I was very worried about DSR etc, but I've hardly ever found a case where the seller hit with limitations was a good sellers, some exceptions maybe, but not many.

From what sellers have been reporting, it's very difficult to recover once you have limitations because it becomes even more difficult to improve your ratings. The best thing is to act quickly at the first sign of trouble, keeping a close eye on your dashboard.

You are using a next day service but is there any delay between receiving an order and dispatching? Or possibly next day raises unreasonable expectations - order on Friday evening and expect a delivery on Saturday, for instance.

You will obviously want to use SD or a carrier with top end items but maybe your listings should state a slower service. Getting items delivered faster than advertised should help your stars.

What are you doing messing around with ebay?

With sales like that you need your own website.

    Forget about greedy ebay.

Sooner or later most big ebay sellers seem to get kicked off by ebay anyway, and paypal fees aren't all that either.

So get a proper merchant account and your own website, problem solved.

Well not quite as you have to drive traffic to your site. Ebay presents your items to millions of people.

Having said that, I agree going to your own site is the thing to do for the long term.
  • The low DSR's could be due to the cost of the posting rather than the dispatch time etc. Some buyers are just never happy, post using a slower method & get moaned at for item taking longer time, use a faster, costlier method & they moan about the cost.

Why not open a couple more accounts?. That way you spread your liabilities over more avenues and reduce your risks.

Is this your opinion or fact? I've never got that impression, but maybe you know something I don't?
I've always heard the opposite, the largest sellers seem to be 'immune' to low stars, but it may just be a rumour.

Posting history suggests that certain people who claim everyone gets kicked off ebay are actually only referring to their own experience.

AS a small seller I have always felt much more vulnerable as it would take very little to see me off ebay as I don't have a large cushion of sales to buffer me against a malicious buyer. A large seller percentage wise would have to really go for it to get a high enough percentage of poor stars to get kicked off.
