It seems pretty logical switching to firmus to save at least 39% over Phoenix gas but am I missing something?

Are you tied into a lengthy contract that will likely increase in price over and above phoenix?

Are they regulated in the same way as phoenix and if not is this an issue?

Hope someone has some advice =)

Provided firmus are capable of switching you over competently I don't think you're missing anything.

They are regulated by the NI Utility Regulator - http://www.uregni.gov.uk/gas/ and you can cancel your contract with 28 days notice.

Who knows what their contracts & tariffs will be at the end of the 2 years, but you can always switch back to Phoenix with 28 days notice if they offer a better deal.

    Hi All

I received an e-mail today from Firmus Energy to say that they are now able to switch people that use Phoenix "Pay As You Go" meters.

Does firmus demand that payment is by DD? (I don't do DD)

Should have come back to say the switch did go ahead relatively painlessly. Phoenix gas even offered to take the remainder of what we owed them in instalments.

As far as I know Firmus do want DDs Jeffer but wouldn't swear to it
  • i got an email today from firmus, they are now accepting pay as you go keypad customers :)

they are offering a saving of 7.5% until January 2013, then 5% discount from february 2013 til January 2014
  • Hi everyone

Firmus has asked us to post a reply on here. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company may say on our forum

" Customers with a pay-as-you-go meter do not need to pay by Direct Debit."
Could you do with a Money Makeover?

  • Hi guys, I was contemplating switching to Firmus from Phoenix. I'm a pay as you go customer. I was hoping I could switch over and top up a lot before any Firmus price hikes. Unfortunately I heard somewhere that Firmus are increasing prices by the end of September, so I'm guessing that by a time the switch took place I'd be being hit by the firmus increase? Does anyone know if I'm right in that assumption, or any other money saving ideas? Thanks, David
