Phoenix gas increases

I just came home from working away for a fortnight to find a letter through my door from Phoenix telling me about the price rise - and I live in Ards! Since when has Ards been "greater Belfast and Larne"?! Thankfully I topped up a bit 2 weeks ago but wouldve done more if I knew it was going to include Ards right away. :-(0

I received the letter telling me about the price hike on Sat 30th April- just 1 day before the price hike.
Fortunately i knew about the price hike and did a few top-ups, but if i had been relying on Phoenix to pre-warn me i wouldn't exactly have much pre-warning now would i?0 -
I did hear firmus will increase prices in September or October ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

I got the letter this morning (3rd may) was in effect from two days ago (1st may) I live in the Bangor area (not greater belfast or larne area either)
Wish I had of known I would have topped up more (think I'll start a weekly top up all over summer etc to build it up for winter)0 -

And thanks bigsy for saying it was painless - it was because of you I started investigating it...
Hmmm when I say I just switched, I had an email from Firmus fairly much straight away acknowledging that I'd asked to switch and not a dicky bird since, except for a letter from Phoenix a few days ago telling me my direct debit is going up. Is this normal?0 -
I applied to switch about the same time and got this from Firmus on 05/05/11.
Thank you for choosing firmus energy as your natural gas supplier!
We have received your request to switch your natural gas supply to firmus energy. Given that you have a cooling off period we will be submitting your application to Phoenix within the next few days. We will also notify you of your proposed switch date, the date that you will actually be supplied by firmus energy.
Actually, this is all the contact I've had from Firmus and Phoenix have never contacted me since I converted from oil on the 25th March. I would kinna' like to get a bill from somebody soon just to let me know how much I'm going to be paying!!!0 -
firmusenergy please see this thread you only have permission to post in one thread not the rest of the forum you need permission to post else where

"Hi everyone
We've agreed that firmusenergy can reply on this thread only to answer any questions as long as they're questions specifically about firmus.

I've just checked my paperwork. I applied to switch at the end of Oct / start of Nov 2010 and got a letter dated a few days later confirming this (but no initial email). This was followed up at the end of Nov by another letter and emails confirming on-line account access and the switch took place on 1 Dec.
This pre-dated both their advertising campaign in Belfast and the Phoenix price hike so I wouldn't be surprised if things are now a bit slower as a lot of people are probably trying to switch. I don't work for them and am not apologising for them and I will certainly move back to Phoenix if/when they are cheaper, but my experience with firmus has been fine. Since the switch I have had email reminders to read my meter at the correct time and the 3-monthly bills have come through with the correct discounts applied.0 -
Hi,
We have received this response from Firmus energy. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company may say on the forum. The switch normally takes around 38 days. We are required to give the customer 10 days cooling off period (in case you change your mind) and Phoenix require 28 days to terminate your contract. If you email your details to customeroperations@firmusenergy.co.uk we can advise you of the status of your switch. Thanks again for switching.0
