Just jump through the hoops then there won't be any flipping sanctions!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I know it's such an old post, but still a relevant post.
I just want to confirm, what I said at the time.....that if an individual has a JSA sanction -and they are therefore not entitled to that benefit - they are also not entitled to the Housing Benefit for the period of the sanction.
I have had discussion with benefit sections and also the counter staff at housing benefit. Housing benefit would NOT be awarded during the period of a benefit sanction.
Eighteen months on and still getting it wrong!0 -

This is not correct. Housing benefit used to be suspended whilst they carried out a means test but the rules were changed to ensure Housing Benefit carries on as if JSA is still 'passporting' to HB. This avoided unnecessary paperwork for the HB dept. although some don't seem to have twigged yet.
Re the posts about the sanctions themselves there are changes shortly http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/jsa-sanction-changes-factsheet.pdf0 -
Hi
I am on a 6 weeks sanction, and i am claiming hardship payments right now.The sanction will be lifted on the 9 october.
Sanction was from 29 august to 9 th october.
I'm still getting Housing benefit and council tax benefits paid, this was not affected by the sanction.
I hope a job comes my way soon, as I cant live life like this much longer!!0 -
who can get hardship payments only the sick and pregnant?
When i applied for a hardship paymentsi filled out a JSA10 and got it straight away, but only after 15 days into the sanction.
I live alone, dont have any children, no other income. Iam claiming JSA contributions.
You do need to put down on the JSA10 what reasons why you want to claim Hardship. e.g food , electric, and i put i dont have family or friends to support me( which i don't) I got a payment after 3 days after i signed on.
Hardship payments took 2 weeks to process.
Hope this helps.0 -
