Works for me, maybe just in beta testing Humax machines, most of it is. If you have a Humax machine goto page 999 (freesat info channel) wait for the page to load asking you to press red to continue (don't actual press red!) just tap Green Green Blue Green Grenn and the page changes to ITV Player. If it wasn't for the mistakes I made in the past (and learned from), I wouldn't be who and where I am today. It doesn't matter if you've cocked up, what matters is that you put it right and apologise. x0 -

It makes no difference where the computer is, as long as the router is near the TV if not just get yourself homeplug adapters. Below is a couple of videos on the Freesat website showing you how it works.
My parents have their computer upstairs too (connected by wifi) to their router in the lounge near their TV, they have an ethernet cable running a few feet from router to Freesat. I on the other hand plumped for a 30 foot ethernet cable.
Via Ethernet cable - http://www.freesat.co.uk/what-you-get/on-demand-tv/connect-by-enternet-cable

Apparently it works only for those approved for Beta testing. We lesser mortals do not have access to 999 and will have to wait for who knows how long

And FX channel which you can't get with freestat boxes! Why on earth not?
Other than that I entirely agree with your post.
I have induce many people to dump sky by suggesting they do an audit of what they watch.
The sad thing is that there are still a considerable number of people who thing Satellite = sky and do not realise they can get virtually all the decent channels for nothing.
When you explain to them that they can get all the BBC channels, all the ITV channels, all the C4 channels and C5 it often becomes a no-brainer to save themselves around £20 a month.
Only people addicted to sport really need sky nowadays. You live..You learn.:)0 -
I tried Freesat and i couldn't get Yorkshire television even though i live in West Yorkshire,my wife didn't like the alternative as she couldn't watch calendar news0

Is that an ITV or BBC regional channel? Because the BBC varients are at the end of the EPG and I think you can get some itv variants, too but I've not looked recently.0 -

Two possibilities.
Are you near a border with Granada TV land?
If so set up your box with a postcode for somewhere in Leeds - it should retune to give you Calendar.
Are you you watching ITV HD - channel 119? At the moment north of England ITV HD freesat uses the Granada feed so you get north west local news. For calendar you need to be on channel 103.0
