We bought my son and his fiancee a microwave from Currys for an engagement present in December 2010.
My son phoned yesterday to tell us the microwave had stopped working. So my husband checked the fuse, no joy, so we put the microwave in the car and took it back with the receipt.
No problem at all, we could either have the same model as a replacement or pick an alternative. All sorted in about 10 minutes.
Good customer service I think.

Is this a windup?0

I agree, but this is Currys the OP is talking about. I didn't realise they had such a thing as customer service and I'm sure most people on here didn't either0

No it's not a wind up and I, like you, greektony was a little taken aback by the service, so much so, I thought I would post my experience on hear.
I don't usually frequent Currys (or Comet for that matter) but my son and his fiancee picked the microwave themselves.
I was so sure we would be fobbed off that I told my hubbie to leave the microwave in the car in case they wouldn't take it off us in the shop. But they even offered to carry it in for us. How can I complain at that?

Don't worry - I'm sure the customer service rep in question will get the boot for failing to sell enough warrantys/mobile deals/copies of Microsoft Office etc.0 -

not all stores are the same in terms of customer service, there are stores who do excel at cs and others who arent as good0 -
I've returned possibly half a dozen microwave ovens within the 12 months warranty period, all for becoming faulty.
It's a disgrace that such poor quality products are for sale in our stores.0
