CPW's systems are a bit funny. When I took a contract out with them 2 years ago the system said no as my address was different on their system to what I had given them. I live in a small (7) block of flats so my address can be a combination of:

    Flat x, road name
    X Flat name, road name,
    Flat x, x road name
Flat x flat name, x road name
Flat x flat name, road name

You can see the problems I have!

  • It is wise not to accept any deal which is only offered orally by phone. There may be exceptions to this rule but you really would need to prove exactly what you agreed to in case something goes wrong - and with cpw dealers that is not so unlikely, as you've already found. Patience is a virtue and there will be other (possibly better) deals along in due course.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. If it was a proper network provider that offered me the deal verbally then I would definitely say yes, but a third party (infact mobiles.co.uk is a fourth-party) trying to offer these verbally is ready with some paint to write "mug" on their victims!

Has anyone tried buymobilephones.net? They seem less dodgy and maybe worth a try? Any recommendations?

There is a search tool at this forum. Not the greatest one, but does the job: BuyMobilePhones.net (merged)

I'd be wary of falling into the trap of assuming a network's word is worth much when offering deals; Vodafone in particular has endless threads containing innumerable examples of not getting what they were promised!
