Credit check without consent
I recently moved house and when I called Virgin Media's home move team to move my broadband, they asked what mobile network I was with and offered me a good PAYG sim deal which I took up (I was with O2 at the time on PAYG).
When they took my details for the sim card order they asked my previous address. I queried why they needed the info and confirmed for a 2nd time that it was a PAYG sim and they confirmed it was and said they needed the addresses for their system.
When I got the card through it turned out it was a 30-day contract pay monthly sim and they had carried out a credit check without my knowledge or consent.
I managed to terminate the contract but that's not the point! Surely they're not allowed to do that?!
I'm amazed it went through - I'm an ex-bankrupt, discharged only 3 years ago.
