i thought being in this same situation would make things move a lot quicker but still here after offers accepted at the beginning of february, we are selling our house to a couple of ftb and the house we are buying is chain free.
shouldn't be long though now fingers crossed dates are now starting to slowly be mentioned and fingers crossed you arn't waiting much longer either0 -
I bought a house off my parents - it took the full 12 weeks to complete! No chain, I was moving out of rented and they moving into rented. Very frustrating but our solicitor went and crossed every T and dotted every I.0

Our no chain purchase (we let ours out and the seller moved into rented) took from 16th October when offer accepted to 7th December exchange/14th December complete. So that's 7 weeks and three days. We had an excelelnt solicitor which was good as sellers sol were slow with answers and some paperwork had to be sent away to sellers ex husband for signatures.0

We had our offer accepted on the 9th March. We have the mortgage done but have problems with the Environmental searches. Still waiting and have no idea when it's going to be sorted. Both use and vendors wanted to be exchanged at the end of April, that's not going to happen now!0

I once bought a building society repossession house, and it took almost four months. My solicitor found a discrepancy with the boundary shown on the deeds and the one on the map from the council, which took ages to sort out. But in the end it was to our advantage as we gained over a foot of land all along the side of the house and garden.

I've been living at my mum's and buying an empty repossession. Took 39 weeks from offer to completion! It really does depend whether any problems appear in the process. We were virtually ready to exchange in week 4 - the last thing to be handed over (building regs certs that didn't exist) took another 8 months to sort out.0

We offered in late Jan and are moving in tomorrow, chain free.
The purchase of our new house wasn't dependant on the sale of our current one, however we sold that in mid Feb to someone with a FTB buying from them (so a tiny chain) and that goes through next week. Our purchase was slowed down by waiting for the documents from the sellers for building regs, but we wouldn't have been ready to move until tomorrow anyway, due to work!Live on £11k in 20110 -

Mine took 12 weeks, both of us were chain free. I think 4 weeks of that was waiting for the lodgers to move out.0
