Not quite correct. The ONO (Original Network Operator) always passes the call/text to the destination network direct.

For example, say I'm on O2. I port to Orange, then O2 route off-net traffic to Orange.

I then port out from Orange to Three. My numbers routing gets changed at O2's end. It then routes from O2 to Three directly.

I then, for sake of argument, move back to O2. They remove the external routing.
