On its Dublin to Malaga and Dublin to Gatwick routes Ryanair is also trialling a charge of £10 or €10 one-way fee for those who want to sit seat in rows one and two.
What's wrong with sitting in row three?

I always understood that in the event of a crash, the back of the plane was the safest place. And now it's cheaper!

It sort of acknowledges the desperation of the customers to get off their planes quickly doesn't it? Personally, if the door came off mid flight then I would be relieved to be sucked out to a quick death rather than have to sit through the sales of scratch cards, smokeless cigarettes and that damn fanfare they play when they land. Seems like a premium I might be willing to pay on the off-chance.
If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.

I looked for flights the other day.

They were coming in at £400 with Monarch, with luggage.

    Ryanair were charging.....£498 without luggage!

How they can call themselves a low cost airline, I don't know!

  • I'm attaching my recent email exchange with Easyjet re their hike in booking fee using debit cards. Response time was impressive...about 20 mins so at least credit to them for that.

I would be interested to understand how Easyjet justifies a 45% increase in its fee for paying with a debit card.

When I got to the payment stage of a booking yesterday and saw this Easyjet lost a customer to a scheduled airline which only charged £10 more for the total ticket (and no debit card fee). I know I can avoid this fee with the obscure Visa Electron but let's be realistic, we know there is no fee associated with this card because very few people actually have one.

I havent had any negative experiences with Easyjet but there comes a point when the price and stealth fees outweigh the value received. Frankly, a 45% increase feels like a rip off.

    Dear Mr xxxx,

    Thank you for contacting us.

I' was sorry to learn that you are not happy with our new booking fee.

I can confirm that there is no card fee for using debit cards but the fee consists of booking fee.

Please consider that recently the prices for all kind of services gone up and this triggered increases also in our fees.

We consider you a valued customer and hope that you can appreciate our position in this matter.
I do hope I have been able to answer your question fully. If you are still experiencing problems, please reply to this email and we will be happy to assist you further.

    Yours sincerely

Is it illegal to use cookies to increase the price for those that didn't impulse buy on first searching the website? Surely if you didn't book first site visit you are less likely to book if the price has gone up on second visit?

I booked a flight to Ibiza last week flying out with Ryanair and back with Easyjet total inc tax and charges £53, I guess thats how they can call themselves low cost:cool:

Fortunately this has been investigated by MSE amongst others and found to be another interweb rumour.
