Surely rich people buy whenever they feel like it.

I'd buy it if I was a multi billionaire.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
They can't be 25,000 sq feet each, i think, as that would be 50,000 sq feet for the two, and the article says prices start from £6k per square foot. So even at that price, you'd buy 22,600 sq feet with £136 million. As these are the penthouses, they'd be more per sq. ft.

I think you are right re the overall square footage - on second reading I understand the flat is now approx 25000 sq ft (only about the same size as 16 normal houses then...) I read also that this chap managed to get the sq footage cost to a 'mere' 5.5k hence the increase in sq footage vs cost.

The penthouses are not worth more per sq ft - it doesn't work like that apparently - They are just far larger so the this more sq footage involved!

I don't understand this strange "doesn't he have enough already" attitude people have towards the wealthy.

Surely you can see how the other 70% of the world looks at, say, a £100k homeowner with the same view? That we're bloody minted and can relax now?

To be honest 70% is probably a conservative estimate.

as many mums buy a bugaboo pushchair (which isn't the most convenient pushchair on the market) to show they are "in" and also that they have money. It is a status symbol.

I bought my DD one (for our DGS - shes pregnant) because she loves the look of it, not the name....

I bet his council tax bill's not much more than mine would be in a 1-bed flat. How much is it there in a Band H?
