Probably go to some council tenants at a rent of about 2 mill a week.

I wonder if he's checked that he can afford the service charges?

Is it really worth the extra £(multi)millions to live right in the centre of London ? I suppose if you have £billions, you might as well. But really, for a mere £(few)million, you could live virtually anywhere else in the UK, and use some of the money you saved to make the place every bit as good, if not better than a flat in London. I just don't "get" the place at all. Crazy busy, crazy traffic etc. Yes, the city has everything you might want in the way of nightlife etc, but if you have £billions, you could live in a slightly quieter, prettier location, and visit the inner city whenever you please. We all have different desires I suppose.
30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.

I would guess the owner has a few more place dotted around.
  • You can live bang in the centre of town for a lot less, too.

if you've got £billions then you probably have a large property in several cities (this is not a "flat" really, is it - a three storey penthouse, will be larger than most houses in central london) and several estates in several countries where you can shoot peasants for fun at the weekend. in some countries, you will only be allowed to shoot pheasants, which isn't as fun.

I read each penthouse flat was 25000+ square feet and he's knocked two together apparently...

Bear in mind that a spacious two bed flat would be approx 750-1000 sq ft and that's FAR bigger than most houses anywhere in the country let alone the cramped confines of central London!

Suffice to say, many cats can be swung freely in that pad.
Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger

I don't think he has bought the flat because it is in a peaceful, quiet location. He has bought the flat to show how much money he has. I think most of the people buying flats in these blocks are doing it to a) show how much money they have b) be part of the billionaire 'in' crowd. Just as many mums buy a bugaboo pushchair (which isn't the most convenient pushchair on the market) to show they are "in" and also that they have money. It is a status symbol.
