for summer - white loose linen trousers, blue bootleg jeans (best for my body shape), grey loose linen trousers (can be rolled up to 3/4), 3 pairs of black or grey trousers (mostly for work).
white gluv flipflops (but more substantial than flipflop foot straps), black flipflops (both have a slight wedge). Silver flat pumps.
white vest tops and black vest tops, which go under my long sleeveless tunic tops - lovely blue/black one from Tesco last summer, deep blue knot-back, turquoise knot-back, white broderie anglaise, and mulberry broderie anglaise.
Black long t-shirt top with scoop neck and shirred drop waist.

Thats about it - and most of it I bought at the start of last summer in Peacocks with 40% off :).

I worked for a clothes shop about a decade ago and this is the list of clothes that they gave staff from each of their twice yearly catalogues. Women; 5 tops, 3 bottoms and 1 piece of knitwear. Men; 5 shirts, 3 pairs of trousers and 1 piece of knitwear. I know it sounds very restricted but I did have enough outfits for a five or six day week and have stuck to this pattern for work ever since. The tops could be long or short sleeved and the bottoms were skirts or trousers. You could also swap a top and a bottom for a dress if you liked. I found that with the addition of a tee shirt and a pair of jeans plus a pretty dress for evening that I really did have all the clothes I needed.

I don't have a capsule wardrobe. :o I kind of yearn for one but I have too many different categories of clothes.

I could probably survive on 3 bottoms and 5 tops for work, but I'd need going out clothes, special occasion clothes, gym clothes, beach holiday clothes, walking holiday clothes, scruffy clothes, winter woolies, a ball gown and a wetsuit on top!

The best I can do is to hang just washed clothes on the left which face right - and try to always take from the right (which face left -stay with me!) so at least everything I own is worn regularly. I have more tops than bottoms so once there are no bottoms left on the right I move them back over there.

After a while it's very clear if there's anything I'm not wearing. If it's seasonal (winter woollies and coats, or floaty summery things) then it maybe that I was premature getting them out or late putting them away.

If it's special occasion clothes, holiday beach clothes, or interview suits etc then perhaps that kind of situation hasn't arisen lately.

If it's neither a ballgown or a wetsuit (or similar :D) then I either start bliddy wearing it :p or put it up on eBay.

I love my capsule wardrobe. I have just added a pair of cropped linen trousers and a nice day dress too.

I'm gradually trying to declutter my wardrobe (as well as my house) and long for a capsule wardrobe.
I found this website recently and love her minimalist wardrobe - as well as everything else on her site

3 pairs of jeans (two blue, one white which are looking a bit grubby at the foot end so may dye them - hot pink?),one pair of shorts, one pair shoes, one pair trainers (which need replacing :() one pair wintery boots, two dresses, three jumpers/cardi's and too many tops.

two sets of PJ's, half a dozen bra's (in slightly different sizes due to style and fit), dozen knickers and too many socks and tights :p

I need to sort through my tops again as many of them I just don't wear.

and two pairs of slippers - although one pair are practically useless (holey, too big) which I keep as the dog likes to sleep on them :rotfl:

I found that really interesting and I'm thinking of getting her book because our library doesn't have it. (Just checked online.)

I've only dipped into her site but after reading for a few minutes my brain was yelling

    "Where are her exercise clothes?"

"What does she wear on the beach?"

Does she really wear that black shift to every dressy event she attends? Every wedding / party / summer ball / day at the races / barbecue / funeral / job interview..?"

"When it's boiling hot that's what she wears????"

"Does she ever feel sexy in any of that?"

"When it's freezing she doesn't need scarves and gloves like the rest of us? "

I guess she doesn't surf either!

I'd love a capsule wardrobe. I despise clutter. :o:D but I just can't get my head round it.
