Any tips on calming the nerves?

What I didn't say was that the friend (who told me about taking the deep breaths) was given the same advice by her dad.
He'd said - if you need to stop for a second on the way into church, just let me know, deep breaths etc.
On the way into church she was absolutely fine, composed, big smile but turned to see her dad taking VERY big breaths.... :rotfl:

or maybe just concentrate on what you're doing... there's something called 'mindfulness' that has been helping me with dealing with nerves as the day approaches.
In a nutshell, it's about living in the present which might sound odd but worry is about thinking about the past or the future, isn't it? So if we just focus on the actual present, it helps us to feel less anxious if that makes sense...
I'm not very good at explaining but if you go to youtube and google jon kabat-zinn, there are a couple of long talks there (around 40mins each) where he explains it much better than I could ever!
Btw, I'm not trying to advertise anything, this is just a concept that has been helping me deal with my own stress!
