Really? I thought Home Plugs were limited to 85Mbps.

Either way, if they are compatible with his/her current system, £43.50 for two HomePlugs is not an unreasonable cost if the wireless range is not enough for the OP's needs.

The 85Mbps ones only actually deliver ~ 33Mbps (similar to 54Gbps WiFi only delivering 22Mbps) but you can get 200Mbps ones (which will do similar speeds to 100Mbps ethernet) and the latest ones are called Gigabit though naturally don't come anywhere near to delivering that.

WiFi imo is the first thing to try considering this is a moneysaving site and a USB or PCI card is a lot cheaper than homeplugs. If it turns out to be rubbish then I'd personally run ethernet rather than a phone extension but homeplugs are less work (at a cost).

Just to follow this up...
My PC is the only device I want to connect to broadband and I want to do this wirelessly. Will this be a problem - i.e. there'll be no devices wired into the home hub?
Will I need to use an ethernet cable between the PC and the hub for the initial set up?
