Changed from Sky to o2 for broadband and landline

Hi all,
After 2 years with Sky, I finally got fed up with them and changed to o2. I had the full works with Sky, including the TV, but I was constantly being disappointed by them, so cancelled the lot.
One call to o2 got the changeover started. Once I gave them the MAC code, I just had to sit back and wait. Very easy transfer, no fuss, new phone line and broadband activated this morning as promised.
One thing that surprised me though, I could only get 3meg with Sky. With o2, I get 7meg. Its exactly the same line being used, nothing has changed. So for some reason, Sky were restricting the line as I was on their "up to 8meg" service. And Sky even charge you for the use of Mcafee, with o2 this is free.
Anywho, well done to o2. :T:T:T:T:T:T

OOPS, your Subject is round the wrong way...you may want to change it.0

I've been pleased with O2 broadband. BT claimed the line could only handle 5mb and wanted the best part of £30 a month for it, with O2 I get almost 10mb for half the price.0

Just hope you don't get affected by the traffic shaping O2 now has on their broadband.
Lots and I mean lots of unhappy customers about it.
I'm lucky and on an older contract with them, so am not currently affected.
As an O2 broadband customer for a few years now, I have been happy, particularly with the cost and what was truly unlimited broadband.
But now with traffic shaping and a rise in monthly cost of £3 in my case from this month, it seems they now have an established user base, they have decided to start to change things for the worse.
I believe that Sky (on their non free broadband) are quite possibly the only broadband left that is truly unlimited and not traffic shaped.0 -
Hey, thanks for not getting shirty ...it mostly should be a laugh on MSE..sadly not everybody realises that!"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I loved O2 when I was with them. Always excellent customer service and they'd always answer the phone, no button pressing, just a "ring ring... hello?"._____________________________________________

In my opinion, they still offer excellent value for money.
The call centre staff are real people who actually help you. The live chat system is well manned and workable.
As for traffic shaping and such... they have to move with the times and try to offer the best service to ALL their users. So, for me, I see no difference at all.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0
