On the not so positive side, I tried to put layers of newspaper down over cut down weeds, put cut-open tough plastic bags rescued from the skip, and bricks over that. Took me ages and is only about 2'x 15'. And even though it didn't seem windy, I spent ages trying to stop the blinking things blowing all over the place.
.
Just use cardboard and bricks - leave out the plastic bags. You need cardboard not newspapers as they rot down too fast - unless it is a whole newspaper - it needs to block the light so only a few layers won't work.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

The problem is when it is really damp and I have nowhere to leave 3 or 4 pairs of wellies until they get dry. We just have a wee porch. Maybe this year it will be different as last year it was so wet for so long as nothing seemed to dry out.
By the way, how lovely is that word? Clack:D Does exactly as it
sounds. Too early to try to spell onamatepia?.......:p
My neighbour is desperate for a little bit of an allotment, so I am trying to persuade dh to let her have a bit of ours.
If I can get big bits of cardboard, I may give it another go. What looks like a big bit at home, looks tiny once you have a big area to cover!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Just been out in the garden using my digging hoe for the first time! It is as brilliant as the reviews.......2 beds which had been weeded a few weeks ago, and apart from that, not touched since last year, are now ready for planting:D. Took me all of about 10 mins:D
Can't wait til I get up to the lottie later and give it a go on the brambles and dock/ thistles/ something or other with white flower heads which are a b*gger to get out.
I love it! Mind you, it's still a good workout. Sweat running down my face as I write while licking an ice lolly:cool:Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

One piece of newspaper on the floor with each pair stuffed opening to opening one inside the other....should house 3-4 pairs easily. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

Will do that. Will have to put something up against the wall too, as they will be muddy, and I know they will fall over!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

We used to put thick sticks in the ground and put the wellies on them upside down. Sorted.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

I try not to boast.
I did find a mouse nest in one once after it was left out all winter. The rain washes the boots as well.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
That is a wonderful idea!!!!! :TI will be doing that today. Mind you, the only earthy area at the front of the house (to save carrying muddy boots through the house) is a very small area at the front which I don't grow much in as the cats poo in it. Will look much nicer with some colourful wellies in it:DFather Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
