.because the more you get stung by nettles the more sensitive you get to them. I fell into a nettle patch a few years ago and got my upper chest, neck and arms badly stung and since then I can barely tolerate any stings at all without antihistamines.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

I know we are in the 21st century!! My husband is a MFW and I support him in that. He is a good guy, I just need to tell him what I want more often I suppose :-)Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

That's what my GP said at the time anyway. It was because I'd had one fairly massive exposure all at once though, not a few stings at a time like you would normally. I don't think small regular amounts have the same effect. The OP did say she'd been stung badly and extensively, enough to raise blisters though which is why I thought I'd mention it. It's no big deal to wear gloves and long sleeves while handling lots of nettles after all, and certainly a lot more comfortable.Val.0 -
Believe it or not I was wearing gloves and long sleeves of a cotton shirt tucked in to them! Still managed to get stung quite badly, mainly on the backs of my hands where any long ones that I touched got me. The ones I grabbed hard were ok. The stinging has mainly died down now and I just left with some raised red welts on my hands and arms.
Got bitten by something just under my knee on my calf and it has now swollen to a big hard redness about the size of my hand! That'll teach me. Have to watch it doesn't turn nasty. I didn't know it was there until I scratched it in my sleep. Looks a bit like it is turning into cellulitis, but I hope not!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Actually it's not cellulitis.... I have that already lol. It's swelling and inflammation in the tissues and I can't for the life of me remember what it is. You wouldn't think I was a nurse for over 20 yrs!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I would have agreed with you 3 years ago.
Then I earned twice what hubby did, now I'm a housewife and we live on his income.
Bit of a shock, my savings all gone now and I get housekeeping, just enough to cover a tight budget but we get by
I NEVER thought Id be happy with that but I amand so is he.

Thanks Annie. I am in exactly the same position as you. I used to be the breadwinner until I had my youngest then left work to be a full time Mum. When I was the earner, I would have just spent what I wanted, even though I liked a bargain, but had little in the way of savings to show for it. My dh now has control of the finances and we are able to save so much compared to before and now are in a much more secure position. So if I have to 'make do and mend' I am happy to do so. Whether it is on the lottie, garden, charity shops for clothes, whatever.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
