Gordon Brown - Head of the IMF???

we all say things we don't mean from time to time.
even you bendix.
(she was actually a bigoted woman).
She voted Labour, she is a Labour supporter and was recently used for a political stunt by the local labour MP.
If she is a bigot it looks like it has found an appropriate home."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."

I love you lefties. You are so sure of yourselves all the time that now you are even claiming to know whether Brown meant it or not.
Tell me . how does that work, ninky?
You never did deal with my other points about the portraits painted by several of his closest colleagues of Brown as a sexist (remember the young female minister who resigned from cabinet), a bully, a paranoid lout and someone prone to fly into violent rages if things weren't going his way.
These werent Murdoch fantasies. They were talked about in interviews and articles and books by his Labour colleagues.
Also well known right wing Murdoch stooges like Andrew Rawnsley of Labour loving "The Observer".
Alot of the points relating to throwing Nokia's and bullying were never refuted only the more dramatic claims.
To be fair alot of it would be down to the pressure of the role. I am sure Call Me Dave is not all sweetness and light to those around him.Yes, a great man indeed.
A malevolant, brooding, individual only interested in his own career, self-aggrandisment and power for the sake of it. A man who defines himself, like so many in his party, by what he opposes more than what he stands for. This country is so much better off without him."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".

What are you on about. cable has changed his mind massively.. Prior to the election, most had him down as economic brain of Britain. A fine mind!
But now, he has changed his mind over er- his whole view on economics0- and shown us a man who's intellect is as malleable as play doh for a sniff of power.
If he stands up and walks out of this coalition I might have some respect for him. He doesn't know what hes doing! Cameron only has him there as he wants to "keep his enemies closer" - that much is obvious to anyone!
I am sure your lack of respect for Vince does not keep him awake at night.
Vince has one major advantage, and many other advantages, over many of the careerist politicians and lapdogs who get these roles. He is an economist. He knows what he is looking at and talking about. There is nothing wrong with him changing his mind when situations require it as no situation is fluid. The Lib Dems already explained why they changed their minds on the immediate £6 Billion cut. The day the election took place the Greek crisis reached a crescendo. The Lib Dems went into negotiations with Labour asking for the immediate £6 Billion worth of cuts to be put into place.
No economic situation is static, it is constantly fluid. Would you accuse the MPC of changing its mind if next month they raised interest rates or would you think that they have assessed the situation as it stands at that period of time and madea judgement accordingly ?
Vince would be excellent in the role. Brown would just trouser his money and dance to his masters tune."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."

Transcript of the Brown-Duffy thing if anyone's interested:

I expect this bit is the whole "bigot" thing:
That's more "Colemanballs" material than bigotry.
She is saying (or trying to in my opinion) you cannot say anything about them, more a comment on how neutered rational debate on the rights and wrongs of immigration is for fear of pandering to the right wing fruitcakes.
She may or may not be a bigot but you cannot draw that conclusion from her words (unless you are a pro-labour stooge looking to defend Brown at all costs).
Plenty of politicians have been caught off guard. Remember John Major and the b*st*rds in the cabinet."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."

Maybe, just maybe the UK Tory press have it wrong'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Yeah, but that's enough about me. I thought we were talking about Gordon Brown.0 -

From the OP, I just loved this quote:
"I haven't spent a huge amount of time thinking about this. It does seem to me that if you have someone who didn't think we had a debt problem in the UK... they might not be the best person to [run the IMF]".
I heard it on the radio and it made me laugh out loud. It's quite a casual, off-the-cuff insult from Cameron; declaring that he hasn't thought much about it (he doesn't need to), but if he were to be forced into stating an opinion then GB might not be the best person for the following (did I mention?) glaringly obvious reasons. Giving the impression it's almost an insult to have to point out why GB should not be head of the IMF. Brilliant humour :T0 -
This thread has descended a bit into a Tories are great/no they're not/Brown was an eedjit/no he wasn't debate.
However, Cameron is not looking the master of all he commands. He has attempted to fill the lords with his buddies (more lords, more quickly than any other PM - I wonder how much time he spent thinking about that, & how many of them are tory donors etc - more jobs for the boys, like georgie boy as chuky said earlier...)

The EU wants a raise of 4.9%

Oh, & the valued NHS which Cameron vowed to protect has waiting lists at a 3 year high.
Yeah, way to sort the country out...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
