Compromise - choose the artificial tree you'd like but buy a real tree this year. The artificial tree must be on display and must be in a sale (probably boxing day). Ask how much it will be reduced by and say you want it reserved. As soon as you get the artificial tree, plant the real one in the garden and put the artificial tree up!0

we love the smell of a real tree !
Every year we save money by nipping to the local forest and just find a nice one and cut it down.
Best done in the dark, it's more fun !

Had our 8' artificial tree for 10 years and still looks great!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

We always have a real one - it supports our local community woodland.
It is expensive - probably our most expensive purchase each Christmas - but it's the only part of the whole silly season that I actually enjoy.
I hate the commercialism, the pressure, the extra stress - but I do love sparkly lights and tinsel!
Plus up at the woods, they have mulled wine, mince pies, fairy lights in the trees and sleigh rides for the kids and it's magical.
Afterwards it's all recycled in some shape or form.
It just wouldn't feel like Christmas without it.
The cats like it too!

We have a real one every year, after growing up having a crappy artificial one, I make sure we have a nice big one.
We havent got a car this year, so have to try to find a way of getting one home, but I have been looking round shops at artificial ones, and the likes in tesco or asda they are all naff, really bare and cheap looking, so guess we are gonna be lugging one home this year

Our tree will probably spend another Christmas in the loft.

Hmmm Thanks I've got the Asda one
there's nothing more I'd like than a big real tree but finances don't allow that sort of money every single Christmas, you gotta do what you gotta do...and they do look ok when decorated, one can't afford to be a snob when one is poor

Actually, we are poor, but one thing, barring the kids, the xmas tree is something we wont compromise on, I used to hate getting the artificial one out every year, it was ugly, and so not christmas, I want my kids to have the best christmas possible.
And when its the choice of paying £14.97 at tesco, or £10 at my local tree farmers for a 7ft real one, I know which I will choose.

I ummed and arred this year about getting a real one cause I love them, but, I thought I'd just lug out the plastic one and spend the £15 I would have paid for the tree on a present instead
(I'm probably getting TOO frugle  ) Hopefully my finances should be better next year so I can buy a real one, they really are special and do add to ones Christmas
Hope you find a real corker of a tree and have a fab Christmas
