• sorry to hear that mate, like you say last thing you need right now. Put her out of your head for a bit and let the police deal with it, I doubt they can do much, but they might manage to make her see sense ya never know.

Any disputes involving the police have to be declared, regardless of whether they are deemed to be closed, buyers have a right to know of any problems before they commit to buying a house.

Interesting - can I ask where you got this information from please?

Although this has now moved away from the initial issue regarding DIY noise complaint I thought I would email to give an update as I received such good advice and support.

The neighbour never answered the door to the police so they hand delivered a letter but she has not replied.

I received a letter from child protection stating they had received a referral from an anonymous caller via NSPCC who reported that my daughter is shouted to by her father and that she is terrified. The letter said that they hold the information but are not intending to take any further action as the concerns have not been substantiated.

To be honest my daughter calls the lady in question "that scary women" following witnessing her verbal abuse so who is she terrified of really.

I am now considering instructing a solicitor to write to my neighbour to explain slander and outlining my rights, although this will obviously cost money.

I have since kept a DIY diary and also keep my camcorder handy just in case. So thank you again for the support I received on here. I will continue to keep you all posted.

I have been in your situation. Things got so bad that EH were called over a tumble dryer and a clock!!! They tried to get me evicted (I rented and they owned). EH said there was no case to answer. If this woman continues in this manner then call the police and report her for harrassment. It does work! Then just ignore her and have no other dealings with her.
