good tent
practice putting up tent
get there early to put up tent
store torch in sleeping bag0 -
Take plastic bucket, easier to transport stuff for washing up, and in emergency can use as pee bucket!!
Take a stiff brush from dustpan and brush set to get mud etc off bottom of ground sheet when putting away.
Take plenty of black bin bags , dirty linen, rubbish and emergency tent repairs, a good roll of duct tape as well for quick repairs.
Dont forget a really good mallet , makes all the difference on difficult ground and take thin and thick tent pegs to cope with different ground conditions.

avoid like the plague campsites that allow generators. They are really noisy and even if they have to switch them off at 10pm it is really intrusive if you are anywhere near.0 -

Loving this thread... We're booked for our first camping trip on 1st & 2nd June at Woodhall Spa but we're thinking of taking an advantage of this good weather and pitching in the garden tonight! At least we can write a list of things we nip into the house for! lolDEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

you can get windbreaks fairly cheaply and they are great for adding a bit of privacy in front of your tent. It was the only thing we wished we had bought after our first camping trip, got one for the second. I also recommend getting a tent you can just about stand in, getting dressed whilst lying down is not easy! Hope you have a great time!0

take some of them cleaning pads with the soap already in for washing up the pots and pans.0

Wellies or crocs for walking through the grass in the morning dew
Avoid pitching on the bit where there are lots of molehills
Camera
Mallet for the pegs.
carrier bags for rubbish/dirty clothes
Have fun!:)0
