Neg feedback whilst on hols!!

Thanks for all replies and the varying views on my predicament...will have to plan my next holiday a bit better!0

It's a risk of being a seller. Or indeed, anyone with customers that may need to contact them.
Do you email everyone who's bought from you, or announce to the world your house is empty?
Do you vanish without a trace?
Personally, take a netbook, and have a big mac with fries for the business occasionally.0 -
And finally....a happy ending....my buyer has kindly changed the neg to a neutral....and I have been taught a valuable lesson or two!0

Now there is the ability to get emails from your mobile anywhere, being "on holiday" is up there with "my dog bid on it" after the event I'm afraid.
.
When I go on holiday I dont use my email from my phone, it cost s afortune when abroad to use the phone for calls and texts as it is without the internet and the only time my phone is on is for 10 mins a day to check my parents have not text me.
I usually though dont list anything 14 days before I go and as I dont sell a lot on the build up to a holiday just contact the buyers to check alls okay before i go.
I agree it is frustrating when a seller goes away and you dont know but I personally wouldnt have left the seller a neg until the dispute was closed.0 -
Really just want a wee moan as i am feeling sorry for myself! Arrived home from hols on sat night....onto e bay on sunday morning to find a dispute for non arrival of item . plus a few messages regarding the non arrival....naturally was a bit shocked as the said item had been posted 9 days before leaving the uk so had assumed there were no problems! However, due to me not responding to the 2 e mails regarding the item, the buyer left negative feedback and opened a dispute. If buyer had bothered to read my 100% feedback for 1500 transactions they might have realised this was not some scammer involved but a very honest e bayer! to cut a long story short, i refunded the £8 and have asked e bay to send a request to buyer to amend feedback from neg. I always thought that if a dispute was opened, then feedback should not be left until dispute was closed...any ideas? i do have all postal receipts etc so will have to file a claim with royal mail for the refund. Sorry for long story but wanted to get it off my chest so to speak! By the way the buyer was fairly new to e bay...so maybe not sure of ettiquette!
out of curiosity, did you set the out of office message? or did they email you directly to your email address?
It would be worrying if you had set it and it didn't work, as I'd be relying on it if I went away for a day or two0 -

It's not that expensive any more. Mine is one of the dearest at £4 a megabyte. However, an email header is about 20 kilobytes. Should you then need to download and reply. it's about 60 kilobytes. So about 30p. If I could bear to use a McSatans, it would be free.0 -
You do not have to contact Ebay to send the buyer a feedback revision form, you can do it yourself.

I don't know if it works without a shop, but you can set up an 'out of office' type of message, anyone sending you a message via ebay will receive an automated reply stating you are away.
Also you can do the same with your emails.
I know it's too late for you now, but it can help in future, and also other people may need it.0 -

To pick up on this, has anyone without a shop ever found settings that allow a seller to send automatic 'out of office' replies. If so please let me have a link as it would suit me to be able to do that.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
