Tesco/Asda Pricechecker Thread - part 5

Just back from Tesco and had a funny moment in the booze aisle. I was standing looking for the 70cl Whyte and MacKay whisky and a middle aged couple were standing just next to me.
I reached out for the correct bottle and noticed that the 1 litre bottle was the same price. Quickly double checked my shopping list and picked up the 70cl bottle.
The man beside me said 'oh you get a much better deal with the 1 litre bottle, looks it's the same price as the other one".
I mumbled something about Tesco Price Check and the net cost being £6ish and quickly scurried off with my 70cl bottle.
They must have been wondering if I was a bit doolally
Thanks shjo for that post. It is a lovely word "doolally" that you have used. For what it is worth, here is the Wikt account of the derivation:
Etymology
from Deolali, a British army camp 100 miles north-east of Bombay where British soldiers would stay after finishing their tour of duty, to await transport back to Britain; and tap, a Persian or Urdu word for a malarial fever (ultimately from Sanskrit tapa (“heat” or “torment”
Sorry to intrude with a touch of culture and etymology, but it might help on "Mastermind" if the specialist subject of "Tesco DTD" is not available.

Just in case anyone from Mr A's is looking at this thread....
Why don't Asda accept our Tesco Price Check vouchers??
That would be one in the eye for Mr T....and we would get to use our vouchers in the supermarket that really is the cheapest!
I doubt the Asda marketing team are as stupid as the Tesco's marketing team.0 -

I doubt the Asda marketing team are as stupid as the Tesco's marketing team.
Don't bet on it I can remember a time when they tried to steal customers from Tescos by offering to take clubcard vouchers. People were taking in hundreds of pounds of clubcard vouchers that they had used online with Tescos. lasted a couple of weeks before Asda pulled the plug.:D0
