Cashback & Sim Only deals

Howdy folks,

Just purchased an unlocked iphone 4 handset and now looking for a good sim-only deal to sign up to with a generous internet allowance (1GB should be fine). I've been on an O2 Simplicity rolling 1-month contract for ages with my Sony Ericsson w880i which doesn't have any data allowance, so looking at working cashback into what I get as a new deal.

The best cashback appears to be with Vodafone, with similar amounts of cashback on both TCB and Quidco. However on Quidco, in the right-hand column under "Useful things to know" it says "SIM Only sim cards will not work in iPhone 4 handsets." but I assume that means that Vodafone don't supply the micro-sims that go into the iphone 4 however you could cut one down to size yourself?

With £100 cashback on £20/month tariff or £70 cashback on a £15/month tariff, it's pretty tempting... Any views on this? Ta.

You should be much more concerned about actually GETTING any cashback if you use Quidco. Search this site and you'll find that out in spades.

I am pretty sure that any sim will work if you cut it.

Regarding the deals it makes no sense to ask about views without saying how many minutes/texts you normally use.
You can get 100 minutes + unlimited browsing + 500M downloads for as little as £4ish p.m. with cashback or for £6 without any canshback.

The same data without minutes is available for 12 months for £15 in total (20p/min calls, £10 top up included).

250m+unlimited is available for £10p.m. without any cashback.

    300m+unlimited(FUP) - for the same £10.
  • Thanks for your replies.
Yes, sorry, should have made plain what my usage is. I use between 300-400min per month with around the same number of texts, the only other change is that I need a healthy data allowance so I can use the iphone without fear of punitive penalties for using my the internet capabilities on my phone.

I don't see £15 and £20 tariffs at Voda and don't know how many minutes they offer, but for £15 you can get 400m+unlimited+unlimited at giffgaff (no cashback) and for £10 you can get 300m+unlimited+unlimited at Vodafone.
  • I'm currently spending £15/month at the moment with O2 for a package that doesn't include any internet. If I could get package that costs £15/month with 300/400m + unlimited texts + unlimited internet (or 1GB) that with cashback brings down the monthly cost to around a tenner, that would be very attractive.
  • Not sure about that Vodafone deal, someone has already poured cold water on it in the comments on hotukdeals. Just looked at T-Mobile and I couldn't see a £10/pm equivalent the OP there mentions you should use as leverage when speaking to the Vodafone sales desk. The giffgaff deal is good and I may end up going with that but could really do with 300m minimum.

350+300+unltd on a rolling contract or 600+500+unltd on 12 months contract.
  • Thanks - are Chitter Chatter a re-seller for T-Mobile? You don't get to see those deals when visiting the Sim-Only part of the T-Mobile site.

I can't see any mention of internet on the Chitter Chatter rolling contract.

It's a free booster, the same as at t-mobile.
