Recommend me a Mobile

Hi all,

I'm at the time for upgrade but have slipped behind what is the latest and greatest in the way of mobiles.
I currently have a SE w800i wo have good quality camera, good mp3 player, and allround decent phone.

I've seen the W950i and the gadet freak in me likes the idea of having a touch screen phone. However it is very expensive so unlikely to be reasonably priced (free) on an upgrade. So is there any other must have phones out there?

    Hi.

I know this is a site dedicated to money saving, but someone has to take the high-flyer route, so I'll point that out and then leave the rest to those that are versed in that field.

For Nokia - man I love these babes:
N91 - A great phone, looks good, has WiFi built in along with a 4GB drive. Only downside is that as it's a 3rd gen S60 phone, there are not as many aps out there as for the slightly older models, so some of your favs may have to wait a bit.

N70 - My favourite. A blend of everything you could want, although minus the WiFi. Does take a memory card though so handy for carrying documents about between PC and phone. Comes with a fair few bundled apps, good music quality, has a radio (although you need to use the supplied earphone/aerial). Has a really flashy slider at the back to keep the camera clean and covered Not as 'tacky' as the 6630 or similar.

E61 - Now for the business pro. Got lots of office-type apps on board, nice colour that doesn't look out of place in the office. You can also use this for VoIP calls, and it fits in perfectly with other VoIP/SIP equipment so if you want to use it as part of a home/remote PBX etc.

    For Sony Ericsson:
W800i - For the music maniac. A bit big for my taste, but the stereo speakers and vivid red colour sure make it stand out from the crowd. Sound quality is awesome, and it has a few more features built into the software of the phone than the nokia - e.g call scheduling, more versatile calander, etc. But Nokia get my vote for technology.

P990i - The latest addition to the SE fleet, and one whose release was wracked with delays. That having been said, my first impression was good. It's hard to see how they've improved this phone, and it does seem to be a rival to the Nokia N/E series as opposed to the other models, but it's easy to use and does its job. There are not as many apps out for the SE range as for the Nok's, but with the increase in Java support and development, this will change over the next few years.

    For the Motorola:
RAZR - Take your pick of colours and styles. Again, this is, in my opinion, more of a leisure phone rather than a practical, in-your pocket phone, but maybe you'll think differently. I tend to have this just lying around, spending an hour or so on it when the mood suits me for some music. I don't use it as my primary phone, it's just not got the character for that, but it does make a good alarm clock in the morning.

There are other makes and models, samsung, siemens, sendo and O2 to name a few, and they all have their perks and disadvantages, but they're not as well known and certainly not at the peak of technological wizardry. However, they also do tend to be cheaper, and if you're just in the mood for a cheap, sweet but comfortable tele-buddy, it may well suffice.

Hope this helps. And yes, I do have all of the individual models mentioned above.

    Cheers.

    Hussein.

    W950i?

Isnt that the one with no camera?
    Why? Oh Why?

You could go for Sony P990 (Touch Screen / PDA Style).
Or Sony K800i & Nokia N73 for brilliant cameras....
(these two are good cause upgrades dont ask for too much money for these)
