Comet Extended warranty

Options
:mad::mad:Dont bother paying for Comets extended warranty unless you want to wait a very long time for them to sort it out.
Bought LG Plasma tv plus Comet extra warranty. Great, peace of mind for five years. 18 mths later Tv went bang. phoned warranty office, yes covered, will send engineer out, but not for 14 days, but if I pay £145 they will get an engineer out within 48 hrs ?? engineer arrives 13 days later, whoops screen is fried, will have to arrange for it to be collected, when? don't know. phoned warranty office, not their problem as tv has not been diagnosed by repair centre, why send engineer out then?? phoned repair centre, will get collected when they are ready. next 5 to 10 working days, tv will then go to Chepstow for at least 1 working day and then go to Bristol repair centre to be booked in for fault diagnosis within 5 working days. Time scale unknown. But looking at another 2 to 3 weeks if repairable as they would then have to order a screen, 7days, if screen not available will then contact warranty office within 2-3 working days so all in all Absolutely Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never buy or recommend anything from comet again. Engineer stated that they don't replace the plasma screens as it will be expensive, Still waiting.
anybody know what I do next as I think Comet after sales and service are pathetic and Comet dont care once they have sold you an overpriced extended warranty .

14 days? I knew there was no set callout time, but wow...
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

    Hi robster0512

I was very sorry to learn of the problems you have experienced with your TV and our repair service.

The times you have been quoted for your repair do seem excessive as we would aim to repair as quickly as possible, if you would like to e-mail in to me with further details I will gladly investigate this issue for you in order to find out what is causing the delay. When you e-mail in, please confirm your full name and address and also the job reference you have been given.

I can confirm that your extra care service plan covers all repair costs and I was very surprised to learn that you had been offered an appointment within 48 hours time for further payment. Upon receipt of further information, I will investigate this matter also.

If you could also quote the reference 170060, I will be able to link your post and e-mail on our systems.

    Thanks

Good old Comet. I thought everyone knew not to take out any kind of extended warranty with them let alone actually buy anything anyway?

I hate comet and there constant need to hassle over extended warranties.

I was in a store last year when I was looking at the Sony TV I had ordered from another retailer online and one of the sales guys was pushing for their extended warranty on the same TV. He neglected to tell them at that time all Sony TV's came with their own 3 year warranty and all you had to do was register the set when purchased, Robbing B****ds!

After he went I told the couple where I purchased mine and it was cheaper!
  •:mad::mad: Well its not getting any better.
Tv was collected on tuesday. rang customer service and warranty company on thursday morning, Tv had not yet been looked at. Rang Customer service again at 3pm thursday and told the Tv was being written off due to cost,(I knew that last thursday when engineer finally arrived to inspect) Then rang warranty company and was informed that yes Tv was going to be written off, So what next I ask, well ring this number, another Comet department which deals with the replacement of goods which are written off, Duly did so at 17.30 hrs to be told that I wasn't on the system yet and it would take approx 7 - 10 working days for them to source my replacement. To be honest, the way in which I have been treated is simply disgusting, if this is the way Comet aftersales treat their customers I am quite frankly shocked that Comet remain in business. I have spent over 2 hrs phoning Comet trying to sort this mess out, I would be waiting even longer if I hadn't beeen as persistant. And still not resolved, 3 weeks without Tv now. Surely, I should be able to walk into Comet and choose another Tv from stock to the same value or more if I wish to upgrade and pay extra.
But no, I have to wait for the box tickers to tick the correct boxes and wait even longer.
Well, have a Happy Easter, I hope you have a nice tv to watch.:mad:

    Dear Mr Williams

Further to my colleague Davids response below.

Unfortunately, I was away from the business yesterday and missed your e-mail following my post on the MSE forum. I have re-escalated this issue to the relevant departments and will monitor the progress, in order to avoid any further delay. As soon as I have received further information, you will receive an update via e-mail.

In the meantime, if you require any further information, please e-mail me back.

    Regards,

    Chris Richardson

Sorted, so I thought ,just contact the guy as he has quote " re-escalated this issue to the relevant departments and will monitor the progress, in order to avoid any further delay." Guess what, not true this guy is not working over the holiday,(bet he is sat at home watching his nice tv) Gosh, if that Comets idea of avoiding any further delay and escalating the process, goodness knows how much longer our family has to wait to watch some TV. As there complaints department have said today the process will take another 7 days, what do Comet use to communicate with these days pigeon carrier. The rest of use have moved along a bit by using electronic messaging, which I belive to be a little quicker than whatever antiquated form Comet use. They obviously use snail mail. Happy Easter everybody apart from Comet

if your quite finished wasting your money on pathetic not-worth-the-paper-they-are-printed-on warranties, you can always buy these magic beans ive been saving for a 'special' person. Its your lucky day, only 1 pot left, hurry, sale must end soon, buy now pay later, oh, and would you like to take out an extended warranty on them to cover pot damage, leaf growth, and golden eggs?

You didn't HAVE to, you could have waited until they were in stock elsewhere.

    Have you got it sorted?
My 3 year old tv stopped switching on 3 weeks ago. 5 days later, an engineer replaced the capacitors, but still didn't work and said he would be back in a couple of days. 4 days later I rang Comet and was told the part was no longer available and they were waiting for Samsung to write it off. 5 days later I rang AGAIN, and was told they would contact me when this was sorted. I then rang last night, and was told they had contacted the insurance company THAT day( I smell BS) and it would take 48 hours. :rotfl:
What I can't understand, is if the part is no longer available, and I'm covered by their (try not to laugh;)) extended warranty, why is it taking this long. All they have to do, is google this make and see it's a worldwide problem. Or is it because they are losing money and could be about to be put up for sale?
